7th Pay Commission, know when the 8th pay commission will be formed

7th Pay Commission: Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) of central government employees and pensioners are going to increase by four percent. From July 1, the rate of dearness allowance and dearness relief will be 54 percent. Currently, central employees are getting dearness allowance at the rate of 50 percent. According to the rule, when the dearness allowance exceeds 50 percent, the government has to seriously consider the formation of the 8th Pay Commission.

But, no announcement has been made on this yet. C. Srikumar, member of the National Council of Staff Side (JCM) and General Secretary of All India Defence Employees Federation (AIDEF), says that the current rate of DA of employees is 50 percent, which will increase by 4 percent from July 1. Inflation is constantly increasing. There may be a difference of a few points in any month, but based on the chart from January 2024 to June 2024, DA / DR is sure to increase by at least 4 percent. After the results of the Lok Sabha elections, the demand for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission will be placed before the Central Government.

7th Pay Commission: Inflation in March-April

While approving the revision of salaries and allowances on the basis of the Seventh Pay Commission, the Union Cabinet has not considered the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. ‘Bharat Pensioner Samaj’ (BPS) had also raised the demand for the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. BPS General Secretary SC Maheshwari had said that during the 68th AGM, it was passed that the 8th Pay Commission should be constituted as soon as possible. The central government is getting many suggestions from the employees regarding the formation of the 8th Pay Commission in the country. The annual inflation rate based on the All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) number is 4.83 percent for April 2024 (over April 2023). The inflation rate for rural and urban areas is 5.43 percent and 4.11 percent respectively. The CPI for the months of January, February and March 2024 has been 5.10, 5.09 and 4.85 respectively. Among the top five groups, ‘clothing and footwear’, ‘housing’ and ‘fuel and light’ groups saw year-on-year inflation decline over the previous month.

7th Pay Commission: Situation in rural and urban areas

Talking about the index for April 2024, CPI (GEN) for April 2024 was 188.5 percent in rural area, 184.7 percent in urban area and combined percentage was 186.7 percent. CFPI was 188.9 percent in rural area and 195.4 percent in urban area. The combined percentage was 191.2. Talking about the index for March 2024, CPI (General) was 187.8 percent in rural area, 183.6 percent in urban area and combined percentage was 185.8 percent. At the same time, it was 187.8 percent in rural area and 193.4 percent in urban area. The combined percentage was 198.8.
